What’s RIDE 35?

Posted on by Martin Corder

Every week I hear story after story of kids who are in tough places, have lost hope, are desperately seeking peace and an authentic person to care about them.

"My mother is abusive towards me.” Ben said, “I was arrested for defending myself against her and all I want is to be in a safe home where I feel comfortable with people I know or with my real dad.” For the many teens like Ben, I’ll be biking 35km on August 15th with several YFC staff, the current and a former Executive Director (the other former Ex. D will be cheering us on) to celebrate my 35 years with Rogue Valley YFC!  I’d like to invite you to join us in the spirit of the ride by giving a gift to help purchase mountain bikes and safety equipment to get teens from the Juvenile Detention B2B program mountain biking on the trails surrounding us.

After a great discount given to us by our friends at Cycle Sport, it will cost $10,500 to purchase mountain bikes, a trailer, and gear for the teens. Shared experiences and memories are critical to building trusting relationships. This bike program will do just that… build trust, hope, and a sense of accomplishment among these vulnerable youth. Help me celebrate with a gift that will serve these kids for years by giving to our Ride 35 Fundraiser. With your help, we can make this happen by August 15th when we plan to deliver the bikes to Beau Jeska, Director of the Juvenile Justice Ministry and the teens who will use them. Thank you for being a part of my ’35 Year Ride’ with RVYFC!
