Hope and comfort for the hurt

Posted on by Martin Corder

I received an email asking the staff to pray we would find a mentor for a 13-year-old boy (that’s common).

I read further and learned the boy lives with his single mom, a brother who’s 6, a sister who’s 2 and a baby who’s just months old (again, pretty common stuff). But then my heart broke…  We were asked to pray for the mom who is having another brain surgery. This single mom is trying to raise four kids singlehandedly and dealing with an illness requiring multiple brain surgeries. Talk about hardship, pain and uncertainty!
Usually we talk about how you are helping kids. You provide hope and comfort through caring adults who walk alongside young people in whatever may come. But they’re not the only ones you help. You also bring hope and comfort to parents who are struggling with trauma and pain of their own. Thank you for doing so much!!
